From detoxing your liver to detoxing from sugar – there are many detox plans out there to choose from. And many of these detoxes are a great thing to do once a year or so. But detoxing is something your body does every day. And if you consider all the toxins we are introducing into our bodies through the food we eat and our environment on a regular basis, then the need to aid our bodies in this process, regularly, becomes evident.
Here are 3 ways you can support your body in its detoxification process:
- Eat cruciferous vegetables. These vegetables have a unique ability to promote detoxification, especially cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower and brussels sprouts. Bonus: these same vegetables also help women to metabolize and eliminate estrogen, helping with hormone balance. Second bonus: cruciferous vegetables also help protect against cancer. LOTS OF REASONS TO LOVE THESE VEGGIES!
- Drink green tea. BPA (bisphenol A) is an industrial chemical that has been used to make certain plastics and resins since the 1960s. It is a very harmful toxin that has been associated with diabetes, heart disease and obesity even with small levels in the body. This toxin does not eliminate from our bodies very well, but instead it accumulates in our fat. The first step in eliminating this toxin is by simply keeping it out of the plastics we use. Store food in glass instead of plastic and purchase only BPA free plastics. But you can help your body get rid of this stubborn toxin by drinking green tea, eating small amounts of organic soy, kale, and cranberry. Also include the spices turmeric and rosemary in your cooking whenever possible.
- Eat foods that contain phytochemicals. Phytochemicals in plants help to protect your cells and will support detoxification. Green tea, turmeric, soy and cruciferous vegetables all have phytochemicals. But so do red grapes, spanish peanuts, watercress and pomegranate.
A Good Diet
Overall, a good diet that will help you to get and stay healthy will include lots of vegetables, fruit, beans, whole grains and moderate amounts of meat, eggs, fish, dairy products and healthy fats. The more you can eliminate processed, packaged foods and sugar the easier it will be for your body to detox.
Taste Success is a 12-week program that naturally includes these foods in the recipes. You can incorporate healthy, detoxifying foods and spices in your every day diet with ease.
